Cruise Ship Interiors Expo 2023: Continental presents stylish & sustainable solutions

[Translate to English:]

Materials that invite you to relax, inspire you with their fascinating appearance and set standards with their environmentally friendly constituents will be the focus of Continental’s trade fair presence at the Cruise Ship Interiors Expo (CSIE), which will be held in London on November 29 and 30, 2023.

“Sustainability starts at the surface” – the current main theme of Continental’s Surface Solutions business unit will also play a major role in the trade fair appearance at this year’s CSIE. Following the technology company’s participation in the international trade fair for cruise ship interiors for the first time last year, it now intends to build on this success. More than 200 market-leading companies from the European cruise industry will present their products and services in London on November 29 and 30, 2023. The motto here is “The space to connect – a gateway for the cruise interiors supply chain to meet with the most esteemed cruise lines, designers and shipyards.”

Continental is taking the opportunity to present a total of four product updates at booth 628 that impress with their exceptional comfort, extraordinary look and particularly sustainable components. The quartet consists of skai® Evida Fiber, skai® VyP Coffee, skai® Tovosoft EN and skai® Totexo EN.

High-quality appearance, sustainable constituents

skai® Evida Fiber is currently the most sustainable product in the technology company’s range, as it consists of more than 90 percent natural and renewable raw materials. This sustainable approach is also reflected in the appearance of the material, as the grain has a fiber-like structure.

No less sustainable, but definitely revolutionary in terms of its concept, is the second exhibit: skai® VyP Coffee. With this product, Continental has succeeded in incorporating coffee grounds in the production process. For the latest variant with laif technology, this is used together with other recycled and natural components. More than 65 percent of conventional chemical raw materials are thus replaced by natural and recycled ones.

Design and comfort in perfect harmony

In terms of appearance and feel, skai® Tovosoft EN and skai® Totexo EN play out their charm at the CSIE in the most elegant way and they are also extremely sustainable, because the material backing is made of recycled PES fiber and is completely phthalate-free. Whereas skai® Tovosoft EN features a voluminous flow effect achieved by a fascinating honeycomb structure that invites you to touch it, skai® Totexo EN brings a touch of tomorrow to today’s ship interiors. The textile grain of the product creates an elegant look with a technical-futuristic appeal with its fascinating matt-gloss effect.

Four times stylish, four times environmentally conscious – with these arguments, Continental is perfectly positioned for the trade fair and the industry, says Norbert Müller, sales manager responsible for the cruise sector at the surface specialist. “Sustainability awareness is also on the rise in the design of new interiors for the cruise sector. Our product innovations pay off ideally: fossil raw materials are replaced by natural and sustainable ones, impress with functional aspects such as durability, and are always in line with current design trends.”
